STX to produce ship engines in China

Last January, STX group made an agreement with Dalian municipal Government to construct a production facility that includes engine crankshaft manufacturing, marine diesel engine manufacturing and a ship block assembly plant.

According to the agreements, STX Engine will establish an affiliated company named as STX Dalian Engine as a part of shipbuilding business complex. The new company will be dedicated to the manufacture, assembly and testing of marine diesel engines for STX Dalian Shipyard and other privately owned Chinese shipyards. The planned capacity of the factory will be more than 2 million bhp per annum from 2009.
