EUKOR orders PCTC quartet

EUKOR Car Carriers has placed an order with Korea shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for four large Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs). The vessels will be built at the HHI Shipyard in Ulsan and deliveries are scheduled for 2010.

These state-of-the-art ships will become the world?s largest PCTCs with a length of 232 meters and a carrying capacity of 8,100 CEU (car equivalent units). They will each be equipped with a 150 ton stern ramp and 13 single-stanchion-row cargo decks of which four are hoistable.

In addition to the four new vessel contracts, EUKOR also signed an agreement with HHI to elongate four previously ordered 6,500 unit capacity vessels due for delivery in 2008-09. Theses vessels will have their carrying capacity increased by 20%.
