DMHI riding high

Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries (DMHI) of Mangalia, Romania, has signed contracts worth over $1.05 billions with three important ship owners in the first quarter of 2007.

The first contract was signed in January with the German company Hamburg Süd for six 6,300 teu container ships which will be the largest ever built in Black Sea area.

The next contract was signed in March with the Greek shipowner Anangel Maritime Services for four 180,000 dwt bulk carriers. Again, these will be the biggest of their type ever built in the Black Sea area.

Earlier this month a contract was signed with another Greek company, Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A, to build two 180,000 dwt bulk carriers.
