Ezra orders MFSVs

PAN-United Marine (PUM) has become the first Singapore shipyard to secure an order for ultra large anchor handlers, with a contract from or Ezra Holdings to build a pair worth $65m. The two 22,000 kW large Rolls-Royce designed multi-functional support vessels (MFSV) will be capable of service in depths of 3,000m.

The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2009 and the second will follow later that year. Both MFSVs will be able to support offshore construction, sub-sea installation, including well stimulation, well completion and subsea template installations and similar work or functions done by some drilling rigs and semi-submersibles. In addition, they will have ROV capability, perform installation-maintenance repair, carry out ultra deep water anchor handling, towing, supply runs, standby & rescue and assist tankers.

Said Ezra?s managing director Lionel Lee: “This contract will be for the first batch of

large multi-functional support vessels to be built by a Singapore yard, and possibly

Asia?s first as well. These Rolls-Royce designed vessels are the first two of its kind in the world. As oil exploration moves further into deep water and more hostile environments, we will see greater demand for such larger and sophisticated support vessels to meet this challenge. These additional capabilities will further strengthen Ezra?s position as an integrated offshore support services provider.”

Broadening its range, Ezra?s 88%-owned EOC Limited group recently awarded a

contract to convert a 127,533 dwt shuttle tanker into a FPSO.
