Vik-Sandvik design wins award

Normand Seven built by Ulstein Verft in Norway, has been voted ?Ship of the Year 2007? by the readers of Skipsrevyen in Norway.

The award was presented to the Ulstein Group at the Nor-Shipping trade show in Lillestr?m, Oslo. This is the second year in a row that the Ulstein Group has received the award. Readers of Skipsrevyen nominate candidates and a jury of three picks the winner.

Normand Seven is a Vik-Sandvik VS 4220 OCV design. “It is a large, state-of-the-art vessel, and the first purely offshore construction vessel delivered by a Norwegian yard”, said jury member Asle Str?nen, who is also editor of the magazine. At 130m long and with a breadth of 28m, Normand Seven is the largest ship ever built by Ulstein Verft and will be delivered to Solstad in July.

Last year, Bourbon Orca, an ULSTEIN AX104, was named ‘Ship of the Year’ by Skipsrevyen, this being the first ship with the ULSTEIN X-BOW.
