L&T wins Dutch order
The Indian engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro Ltd. has won a contract worth $70 million from RollDock BV of the Netherlands to build two 8,250 dwt semi-submersible heavy-lift container ships. The companies have also signed an agreement which includes options for more vessels of the same series to be built later this year, L&T said in a statement. The newbuildings will have an 830 TEU capacity and a cargo volume of 17,000 m3 and will be built at its existing shipyard at Hazira in the western state of Gujarat and would be delivered by May 2010.
