Danish yard wins Greek bulkers

Odense Steel Shipyard Ltd. (Odense Staalskibsv?rft A/S) in Denmark has concluded contracts with Carras Hellas Group, Greece, for a series of newbuilding Capesize bulk carriers. This new 180,000 dwt design has been developed between Odense and Carras and deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2009.

These orders, which will be built in the largest dock at the yard, will, together with existing orders, fill up the capacity at Odense into 2010. “This marks a significant move into the bulk sector of the market by Odense and we are delighted to be developing a relationship with this leading Capesize operator.” says managing director Finn Buus Nielsen.
