Yantai gets world???s biggest crane
The Chinese shipyard of Yantai Raffles recently installed the world???s largest crane, called ???Taisun???, capable of lifting 20,000 tonnes and currently undergoing testing and commissioning.
Brian Chang, chairman of Yantai Raffles Shipyard, said ???Taisun is earmarked for 10 lifts over the next 20 months. Each lift estimated at 10,000 to 16,000 tonnes and it is expected to save over 2 million man hours for each semi-submersible. With Taisun, Yantai Raffles Shipyard believes that it has revolutionized the way major offshore projects will be built in the future.
