Swissco orders four more OSVs

Singapore-based Swissco Offshore Pte Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swissco International Ltd., contracted Singapore and Indonesian shipyards to build four more offshore support vessels worth $12.8 million with owner-supplied equipment.

The first order is for two identical units of 26-metre, 1,400 bhp, aluminium crew or utility vessels to be built at a Singapore shipyard. The vessels are expected to be deployed in the Southeast Asia region by the first quarter of 2009.

The second order is with an Indonesian shipyard for a landing craft and a multipurpose accommodation workboat. The 57-metre landing craft is equipped with a 1,000 ton cargo capacity and designed for oilfield work. The 48-metre multipurpose accommodation workboat is designed to accommodate up to 50 people and provide a range of services including diving support, maintenance work and towing. The two vessels are expected to join Swissco’s fleet in the first quarter of 2009.

The company now operates a fleet of 26 offshore support vessels and expects to take delivery of one newbuild by the end of the month, 11 units in 2008 and nine more units in 2009.
