Bharati to build new yard
Mumbai-based Bharati Shipyard is all set to construct a greenfield modern shipyard at Usgaon near the Dabhol port in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district. The new yard would have the capacity to build vessels up to 100,000 DWT and will be fully operational in next two years.
Majority of the machineries and equipment, including the floating dock, was acquired from the defunct Swan Hunter Shipyard last year. With the increased shipbuilding capacity, the new shipyard would help boost allied industries, which are also on a higher growth phase and create job opportunities for more than 3,000 people.
