Bangladesh enters world shipbuilding market

Bangladesh will enter the international shipbuilding market when the country one of the biggest shipyards in the country, the Chittagong-based Western Marine Shipyard Ltd, will deliver next week two 4,100 dwt dry cargo vessels to a Danish owner.

Western Marine?s chairman Saiful Islam said the shipyard has received orders for 18 oceangoing ships comprising five for Denmark, 12 for Holland and one for Singapore. The total value of these export orders is $180 million.
