FSG secures two ro-ro contracts

Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) further strengthens its leading position on the RoRo market by securing two contracts for the building of seven ships in total. As a result of these new orders, production at Flensburger is ensured for the next 5 years.

This represents a record in company history. With these orders the yard has reached the highest contract volume in its history, amounting to 1.2 billion Euro and is at the same time the yard with the longest capacity utilization in Germany.

Since 2000, 26 RoRo vessels have been built and delivered and the shipbuilder?s order book now stands at 21 vessels. In addition, eight licenses of Flensburger?s successful design have been sold to the Odense Steel Shipyard, Denmark.

The first contract of four ro-ro ferries was ordered by the UK company of Seatruck Ferries (see separate story filed earlier today) while the second customer is ULUSOY Sealines from Istanbul, Turkey, a shipowner so far operating several old-tonnage RoRo vessels and now aspiring to increase their market share with three newbuildings. These 11,636 dwt vessels will be 193.30 metres long, 26 metres wide, have a draught of 6.45 metres and 3,735 lane metres accommodating 255 trailers. Powered by two 8,400 kW main engines, the vessels will have a service speed of 21.5 knots

Operational area of the three ULUSOY Sealines ferries will be the Mediterranean.
