Jotun lands its biggest contract

The new year has brought good news to JCMC (Jotun COSCO Marine Coatings). Earlier this year in January, JCMC signed a paint contract for 80 vessels to be built at Dayang Shipyard. This is not only the first newbuilding contract Jotun China secured in 2008, but also the biggest contract ever in the history of the Norwegian paint company.

The total contract value is around $50 million, and includes a total volume of 10 million liters of paint to be supplied for 75 x 58,000 DWT bulk carriers and 5 x 16,500 cubic metre LPG carriers.

Dayang Shipyard is a middle size shipyard along the Yangtze River and, after years of hard work with the yard people of all levels, Jotun has now got a market share of almost 90% in this young and promising shipyard. The process towards winning this contract started almost one year ago through several meetings with representatives from both the yard and the involved owners, both in China and abroad.
