BG orders LNG duo from Samsung

UK gas producer BG Group has signed an agreement to buy two LNG carriers from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries for an undisclosed sum. The dual-fuel diesel electric newbuildings will each have a cargo capacity of 170,000 cubic metres and are scheduled for delivery in 2010. These two new vessels are sister ships to the vessels BG ordered from Samsung in 2006.

BG Group’s current LNG shipping fleet consists of more than 20 owned and chartered vessels out of which eight were built by Samsung.
