Brazilian engineering and construction giant Odebrecht recently placed an order with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for two newbuild drill ships. DSME unveiled the reported $1.37 billion deal last month, but declined to identify the client.

The two vessels will each be equipped to drill in up to 10,000 feet (3,048 m) of water and are scheduled for delivery by April 2011. Including this latest deal, DSME has nine newbuild drill ships on its outstanding order book.
