Titan Quanzhou doubles capacity

The commissioning of a second slipway at Titan Quanzhou Shipyard in China?s Fujian province has doubled its annual shipbuilding capacity to 20 vessels of 7,000-9,000 dwt. The second slipway is 275 metres long and 48 metres wide and is equipped with a 160 ton gantry crane. The first slipway is 180 metres x 48 metres and is equipped with a 250 ton gantry crane. Each slipway is capable of assembling modules of two vessels at the same time.

The yard is also building a new 21,000 m2 workshop, which will complement the existing 23,000 m2 hull workshop and is expected to improve production efficiency.

There are further expansion projects at the yard slated for completion by 2010, which will bring docking capacity up to one million dwt encompassing ship repair and maintenance of vessels including VLCCs and post Panamax container ships, as well as offshore engineering for oil rigs.
