Petrobras orders FPSOs galore

The Brazilian state owned oil company Petrobras has revealed plans to purchase ten newbuild FPSOs. Eight of the vessels would be built domestically at the Rio Grande Shipyard in Southern Brazil. All the newbuilding will be capable of operating in waters up to 3,000 metres in depth, and will be delivered between 2013 and 2014.

Petrobras also has plans to convert the 260,000DWT VLCC ‘Sunrise VI? into an FPSO of similar build to the new order. Its new name will be ?FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis?.
