ASRY to invest in new facilities

ASRY?s Chairman Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Al-Khalifa says that the Qatar shipyard is to invest $188m in new facilities. The new investment follows the recent opening of two new slipways built at a cost of $20m The planned further new facilities will include a 1.2 km repair quay, with an alongside water depth of 12m, a 200,000 sq m offshore fabrication area with load-out quay, and four new 23 m, 45 ton bollard-pull tugs, which ASRY will build. The new facilities are expected to be constructed over the next two and half years.

The yards reports that, “as with all major ship repair yards” it has been at full capacity for the past nine months, with a full workload experienced across the board by all departments. This year some 114 vessels have been booked to date at ASRY and 101 have been repaired.
