Daewoo wins Qatar shipyard deal

South Korea’s Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. said that it has finalized a $610 million deal to build a shipyard in north-eastern Qatar. Under the deal with state-run Qatar Petroleum Co., Daewoo Engineering plans to complete the construction of the shipyard by the end of 2009. Daewoo started work on the shipyard in December last year, shortly after the two companies inked a preliminary deal, the company said.
