New Queen revealed

Cunard Line revealed the first details of its 90,400gt newbuild Queen Elizabeth from Fincantieri?s Monfalcone yard, due to enter service in October 2010. The vessel will be the second largest Cunarder built in the 169-year history of the line and, with the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, will give Cunard the world?s youngest fleet, president and md Carol Marlow told a briefing in London.

Queen Elizabeth will combine the Cunard traditions with her own style and personality plus modern day luxuries guests expect, Marlow said. Following liner traditions and the style of her sisters, the new Queen will feature double and triple height public rooms on a grand scale. Art Deco features will reflect both the line?s rich heritage and the original Queen Elizabeth.

Public areas will also include a Queens Room, a Royal Court Theatre and a Garden Lounge with vaulted glass ceiling creating a conservatory inspired by Kew Gardens.

In addition to the main Britannia Restaurant, spanning two decks aft with a Club section offering single sitting dining, Cunard?s Grills experience will be available in

Queen?s and Princess Grill restaurants located with commanding views on Deck 11.

A Games Deck will offer croquet, paddle tennis and traditional British bowls. Extensive entertainment programmes will include country house parties, Ivor Novello-style piano evenings and period dancing.

The new Queen will offer 1,046 staterooms providing 2,092 lower berths classified in nine types ranging from Grand Suites (four) to Inside Staterooms (162). A total of 85% of guest accommodations will be outside staterooms with 71% of these offering balconies.

Queen Elizabeth will depart on her maiden voyage to the Atlantic Isles on 12 October 2010.
