PSV launched at Russian yard
Severnaya Verf shipyard, a part of United Industrial Corporation (OPK), has launched a new platform supply vessel, known as project VS485PSV.
The ship is equipped with an open deck for transport of hazardous and general cargo, and is fitted out for fire fighting, rescue and evacuation in the North Atlantic oil fields.
The ship is being built for Norwegian company Solvik Hull Supplies, and the design is by Vik-Sandvik AS, also of Norway. The contract covers the fabrication of the fitted out hull, including all hardware, setting pipes, and paintwork.
Other current work at the yard includes two PSVs for Norwegian customers, including assembly, wiring, testing equipment and conducting sea trials. The first of these ships will be delivered later in 2009, and the second in 2010.
