Caterpillar announces new diesel engine line

Caterpillar has announced the development of a new line of diesel engines at a gathering of financial analysts in Peoria, USA.

The first models of the new C145 engine line will complement the existing C27 and C32 engine platforms. It will further strengthen Caterpillar’s ability to provide a full line of power solutions to fulfil the high demands of the marine power industry.

The large “V” platform will deliver power in the 700 – 2,700 hp range, providing an impressive horsepower to weight ratio, while maintaining the reliability and durability our customers have come to expect from Caterpillar.

The new engine line will be available for marine and power generation applications in 2013. That will be followed by off-highway versions of the V-configuration engines that are scheduled to be available in 2014.
