COSCO Dalian delivers first heavy lifter

COSCO Shipyard Group of China recently completed the ‘Adam Asnyk’, its first 30,000 DWT heavy lift vessel, at COSCO Shipyard Dalian.

The newbuilding, ordered by Chipolbrok, was originally due for completion in March 2009 and appears to be delivered with 8-month delay. The Adam Asnyk is the first of four 30,000 DWT heavy lifters ordered from COSCO Dalian.

In addition to this newbuilding, COSCO Shipyard Group has so far this year launched 14 ships and delivered nine ships. The group expects its construction volume in 2009 to be about 1 million DWT.
