Hanjin to cut workforce

Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co. in South Korea plans to reduce its shipbuilding workforce by at least 30% to help overcome a management crisis caused by the worldwide recession in the industry.

The plan calls for the company to begin layoffs in its shipbuilding unit in February 2010 and spin off part of its technology group.
