Philippine yard inks order for bulk carriers

Taiwanese shipping company Hsin Chien Marine has reportedly ordered at least two Capesize bulk carriers from Hanjin Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Subic, Philippines (HHIC-Phil). The first of the two 180,000 DWT vessels is due for delivery in September 2011.

With its 17,000 strong workforce, HHIC-Phil already expanded its operations by producing 10,000 TEU and 4,000 TEU container ships, tankers, and bulk carriers while it is planning on undertaking the construction of 260,000 m³ (Q-Max Class) LNG Carriers, drill ships, FPSO, and other marine plant.

Strategically located in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, this shipbuilder has two large dry docks measuring 370m x 100m x 12.5m and 550m x 135m x 13.5m and each dry dock is equipped with two Goliath Cranes.
