Orskov Yard expands

Despite the global financial turmoil, the repair and conversion yard Orskov Yard in Frederikshavn is showing no signs of recession and it has been a busy year for the Danish yard.

Orskov came out with a good result for the 2009 fiscal year and now, with a strong order book position for the first half of 2010, the yard is ready to expand taking on 32 new staff members. “We have had a high order intake and this necessitates that we hire in new staff”, says managing director at Orskov Yard Jeppe Ørskov.

“Our order book position is strong for at least the next three to four months and we are looking to hire both steelworkers, machinists and pipe fitters. Our hope is of course that the growth will continue throughout 2010 securing the new jobs further into the future.”

from the Royal Arctic Line, which was build by Ørskov Skibsværft in 1995, has now returned to be converted into burning heavy fuels. The company will also be installing a new living module on an offshore vessel as well as converting a jack-up vessel. “The upcoming projects at Orskov are very diverse and reflect the broadness of our competences”, says Ørskov.
