WSS engineers have been busy around the world converting R-22 refrigeration systems. Now they have performed this first refrigeration retrofit for a Japanese company. The conversion took place at Kimitsu on 16 March 2010.

“We are very pleased to have carried out this refrigerant changeover,” said Katsuyoshi Sasaki, account sales manager in Yokohama. “This shows that it is not just European vessels that are changing over to environmentally friendly gases. Japanese companies are also showing a strong interest in reducing their use of ozone-depleting gases.”

The Sanko Steamship company operates a fleet of 188 vessels consisting of carriers for oil, raw materials, grain and other bulk cargoes, break bulk cargoes, forest products, liquefied gases and off-shore support vessels.
