Four have been ordered by CBO (Companhia Brasileira de Offshore) and will be built at Alianca S/A, while the remaining three will be built at STX Promar. Two of these will be delivered to Siem Consub while the last vessel will go to Deep Sea Supply.

The orders consist of AZP thrusters and transverse thrusters to all seven vessels, as well as control and automation systems for dynamic positioning for the CBO vessels. Delivery will take place from the second half of 2010.

Helge Gjerde, Rolls-Royce Senior Vice President Offshore – Propulsion, Automation & Control and Engines, said: “Brazil will be one of the most important offshore markets in the years to come. A considerable number of vessels and rigs are to be built in the next five years and with this contract Rolls-Royce further strengthens its presence in Brazil”. With a growing installed base of equipment in this market Rolls-Royce recently opened an advanced marine repair and overhaul facility in Niteroi, increasing capacity to support customers in the region.
