Mitsui reaches milestone with MAN engines

The significant milestone was reached with the production of an MAN B&W 7S80MC-C7 engine, manufactured at Mitsui’s Tamano Engine Works in southern Japan. The engine is bound for Namura Shipbuilding for installation aboard a 250,000 dwt coal carrier for Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, the NYK Line.

Mitsui passed the 60-million-BHP mark in March 2008 and has reached the new milestone in a mere 27 months. The Japanese engine builder signed its original licence agreement with MAN Diesel & Turbo in 1926, with its very first MAN B&W engine rolling off the production line in 1928.
