E.R. Georgina is fitted with anti-glare screens

The E.R. Georgina and E.R. Athina were both built by STX Europe at their yard in Brevik and are platform supply vessels of UT 776 CD design. At 93m long, with a deck space of more than 1,000m2, the 4,700 dwt ships each have four 2,330 bhp diesel engines and can achieve a maximum speed of 16.8 knots. There is on-board accommodation for 25 people.

Both vessels are owned by Hamburg-based shipowner E.R. Schiffahrt and manned by OSM Ship Management. Paul Hopkins, Solar Solve’s marketing executive commented, “These two vessels work in extremely dangerous environments and often under hazardous weather conditions, where enhanced visibility is paramount and a distinct advantage. The adaptability of the Solarola screens allows personnel to instantly retract them when not required if the weather conditions change.”

Hopkins added, “As well as reflecting solar glare, the screens also reject infra red and ultra violet light making them highly versatile, very effective and eminently suitable for these specialised high-tech ships.”
