New maritime broadband offering from Furuno

Furuno says the launch represents the culmination of three years of close cooperation and development work between the three companies. The partnership will allows Furuno to serve as a one-stop-shop for maritime satellite communications. The system is based on the Ku-band 1 m VSAT KU-100.

SpeedCast and Eutelsat have linked 15 Ku-band satellite beams into an integrated, global coverage network to support Furuno’s SafeComNet service. This network is claimed to deliver seamless connectivity across multiple satellite footprints.

As part of the launch, a promotional package for the service will run for the rest of 2010.
