Keppel delivers Petrobras FPSO

Measuring 312m long by 56m wide, P-57 is one of the largest Brazilian FPSOs to be converted under a turnkey supply contract between SBM and Petrobras Netherlands B.V (Petrobras) for the Jubarte field, offshore Espirito Santo.

The upgrading and pre-conversion of the 255,272 dwt tanker, Accord, into the P-57 was completed at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore earlier this year, with the shipyard receiving $761,000 in bonus from SBM for the safe and timely completion.

After the vessel sailed to Brazil, further work performed at Keppel FELS Brazil’s BrasFELS yard in Angra dos Reis included the fabrication and integration of topside modules, piping and electrical equipment, as well as commissioning. The project has fulfilled the local content requirement of 68%.

Keppel has now completed 10 FPSOs for SBM since 2000 and the P-57 represents Petrobras’ new-generation FPSO design and is the 12th major FPSO conversion/upgrading project that Keppel has completed for Brazil. When deployed on location, P-57 will have a production capacity of 180,000 barrels of heavy oil per day (bopd). Its capabilities include compressing 2 million m3 of gas per day, processing 300,000 barrels of liquids per day and storing 1,600,000 barrels of oil.

Keppel’s BrasFELS yard is said to be the most comprehensive offshore and marine facility in Latin America, and has been able to help to meet Brazil’s requirements for greater local content. Keppel’s operations in the country will soon be augmented by their newest addition, the Keppel Singmarine Brasil shipyard in Santa Catarina by the first half of 2011.
