Equipment supplier expands in China
Hatlapa Asia Pacific of Singapore, the umbrella organisation for all of Hatlapa’s Asian branches, was first founded in 1996. The Shanghai office was then registered in 1999, followed by an office in Nanjing in 2007.
Hatlapa says that its presence in the Asian market has proven successful since first deciding to set up in China in 1988. In 2008, the total turnover of Hatlapa Asia Pacific reached $3.8 million, and has been increasing since. The company now employs over 30 staff, and its recent developments show that there is further room for expansion.
The growth of Hatlapa’s Shanghai sales office has now led to in its registration as an independent company trading under the name of Hatlapa Marine Equipment (Shanghai). In addition to simply selling marine equipment, the Shanghai branch is now also offering fleet support and procurement services to the Asian ship building industry. By broadening its scope of activities in Asia, Hatlapa says that it is addressing the growing Chinese market, offering advanced marine equipment and services to the local customers.
Hatlapa Marine Equipment (Shanghai) will, says the parent company, contribute to the development of the shipbuilding industry and other industries in China; the growth of the Shanghai operation will further lead to an increase in tax revenues for Shanghai – part of the economic development requirements.
