New BNWAS from Israel
The system has been certified by GL in compliance with MSC.128 (75) and IEC62616 Ed. 1.
Totem Plus points out that the relevant amendments to SOLAS Regulation V/19 (carriage requirements for a bridge navigational watch alarm system) require the mandatory carriage of a such a system on all vessels of 150gt (keel lay base) or over. This requirement will be phased in at varying intervals for different vessel types, starting from 1st July 2011.
The system monitors bridge activity and raises alarm if the Officer On Watch (OOW) becomes incapable of performing the OOW’s duties.
The company says that a unique feature of the Totem BNWAS is that the system can be used as a ‘burglar alarm while in port (protecting the bridge from unauthorised visits), a feature which it claims adds value with no increase in cost.
