ClassNK revises Class Rules
The Japanese classification society says that it constantly updates and amends its rules to reflect results of its latest independent research, damage analysis, amendments to international conventions and regulations, and requests from the maritime industry. These amendments are compiled each year, and a revised edition of the rules is released each spring.
This year’s edition of the rules includes numerous amendments reflecting the results of ClassNK’s independent research and analysis, as well as the changing requirements of the maritime industry, including:
- New rules and guidance for centralised cargo monitoring and control systems;
- New requirements for closing appliances of ventilators; and
- New requirements for the treatment of steel coils and steel plates made from steel coils.
