New seat deck rails launched

The new deck rails have been designed and developed in response to demand from customers asking for rails with a lower build height and lighter weight. These new versions will complement Alu Design’s traditional range of deck rails.

The rails come in two types – flush mounted or top-mounted. The flush-mounted version requires a recess built into the flooring of 11mm, meaning that the problems of having enough space below the flooring are reduced, facilitating installation. Alternatively, the top-mounted version has a raised profile of 16mm. Due to this low height, this design is claimed to provide a safer working environment, when compared to other rails. The deck rails feature a rounded profile, with no sharp edges, and are delivered in one piece, said to be an advantage over other systems.

Einar Ulrichsen, CEO, Alu Design, stated: “We have used the same construction method for these new decks rails as our traditional models, but they feature a far lower profile. This will be a major advantage for the installation of the flush-mounted rails, as well as being far safer in the top-mounted format as they are less likely to be an operational obstruction to those working around the pilot chair. First deliveries have already begun to Norwegian yards and the feedback to date has been highly positive. The new deck rail series will shortly be available to all territories.”

Because our traditional deck rails are approved according to high speed code, they will remain in our range. However, when you consider the technical and operational advantages of these new designs, we are confident that we have brought a new solution to market that will change thinking when it comes to deck rail use onboard vessels.”
