Indian system saves fuel and preserves cargoes

According to Blue Water Trade Winds, the service is used to optimise the shipboard fuel oil consumption required for cargo heating operations; the company’s technical and business development manager Anurag Datta says: “it is a milestone addition to the upcoming ways of saving fossil fuels and reducing environmental impact from emissions; primarily by innovating new methodologies to optimise the fuel consumption in a system.”

“Cargo heating management service is an innovative service developed for tanker shipping industry, harnessing the experience of Blue Water’s professionals from diverse industries” explains company founder Kumaresh Gupta, who says he encourages the use of green technology to support the current environmental challenges. “The service not only helps the tankers shipping industry in achieving substantial fuel savings by planning and monitoring of cargo heating operations but also prevents expensive cargo claims that may result due to deviations in cargo temperatures as required by the charter party.”

Datta adds that: “As a burgeoning effort to support the environmental sustainability, Blue Water is committed to develop similar fuel optimisation technologies and emission reduction methodologies to revolutionise the green-shipping concept, while maintaining the standards of safe, secure and efficient shipping.”

ST Shipping operates a substantial fleet of owned and time chartered vessels, and this contract follows similar orders from Gemini Tankers (the Suezmax pool of Teekay) and Navig8.
