Tracking system suppliers to merge

Pole Star Space Applications chairman Colin Hook says the company is “very excited about this opportunity and see the business interests of Pole Star and Absolute as complementary to each other. The merger will result in an organisation that will be more robust and even better equipped to serve the needs of all its clients with leading edge, value added products in the years to come.”

Pole Star says it manages 38 LRIT data centres, and supports some 26,000 vessels for 1,250 global clients. Absolute and MTS jointly manage the Panama national data centre, the largest LRIT data centre, and monitor the location of 12,000 vessels under the fishery vessel monitoring and LRIT schemes.
