‘Measuring Torque Correctly’

The book is available for download from HBM’s website, with sample chapters free of charge, in German, English and Italian.

HBM says that accurate measurement of torque has become increasingly important as it leads to the optimisation, development and improved quality assurance of rotating components. Without a clear understanding of torque and the importance of rotational speed measurement, the ability to reduce CO2 emissions is impaired. Shaft torque measurement is often used on ships as a pointer to hull and propulsion efficiency and optimized fuel consumption.

The book describes principal options for torque measurement and deals with the design and application of commonly-used torque transducers. Methods for measuring torque are described along with how to address and solve problems. Detailed theoretical debates are avoided and the appendix comprises a brief outline of vibration engineering along with valuable additional information.
