New chemical tanker for NCC
The newbuilding is part of a nine-vessel order, originally placed by NCC with the yard during 2006/2007, with a total value of about SAR 1.72 million. NCC SAFA is classed by DNV with full IMO 2 notations, and 45,000dwt capacity. 53,200m3 of liquid cargo can be carried in 22 zinc/epoxy coated tanks with 20 full segregations. The vessel will be commercially operated by a Dubai-based joint venture company owned by NCC its strategic partner Odfjell of Norway.
NCC has seven more vessels under construction at SHINAsb with deliveries expected during 2011/2012, in addition to a large 75,000dwt chemical tanker to be constructed at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for delivery during 2013. It currently operates a fleet of 16 vessels, carrying chemicals, vegoils and clean petroleum products.
