Tier 3 compliance for Cat 3500C

The company says that none of the 3500C engines will require after treatment modules to meet Tier 3 regulations as a result of incorporating “innovative fuel and air system modifications” into the design of the engines.

The 3512C Tier 3 is a V12 cylinder engine with a 170mm bore and 215mm stroke, with 58.6 litre displacement. The 3516C Tier 3 is of similar dimensions, but a V16 configuration giving 78.08 litre displacement. Both engine series include 1,600rpm and 1,800rpm options with power ratings ranging between 1,341bhp and 3,386bhp, designed for various applications and duty cycles with added design features to increase durability.

For customers operating in IMO-2 regulated waters and non-EPA regulated territories, the Cat 3500C Tier 2 compliant engines can still be ordered. Those customers operating within EPA regulated waters will be able to order the Tier 3 compliant 3512C and 3516C engines starting in the fourth quarter of 2011.
