On site bow thruster re-installation keeps ship out of drydock

After the necessary preparatory work, the team lowered the bow thruster unit into the water, positioned it in the thruster tunnel and secured it. It was possible to trim the vessel such that the tunnel could be brought three-quarters out of the water, so there was no need to close off the thruster tunnel with the Hydrex flexible mobdocks. The unit could be connected to the engine room and the blades could be installed in the dry.

A full inspection of the reinstalled bow thruster unit was carried out by the superintendent of the vessel and the attending surveyor, both of which approved the work. During the operation the team rotated in shifts to carry out the operation within the shortest possible time frame so that the vessel could continue on its schedule without any unnecessary delay.
