Two offshore support ships from Dubai

Greatships Vidya and Vimla are 150ton BP, DP2 classed vessels, of 78.2m length oa, 18.2m breadth and 8m depth. They were designed for optimum availability of space, the result is claimed by the yard to represent a compact vessel providing high output.

Main engines are Wärtsilä 9L32, providing 9,000kW, driving through gearboxes and propellers supplied by Wärtsilä. Caterpillar auxiliary engines generating 1,300kW are supplemented by two shaft generators providing an extra 4,400kW. Towing and anchoring equipment is supplied by Fukushima of Japan, and the DP system was supplied and commissioned by Converteam of the UK. Vidya and Vimla are dual-classed under IRS and ABS.
