Perkins introduces new marine range

The new four-engine range comes at the top end of the Perkins marine diesel portfolio, replacing the existing six-cylinder models. They are designed as low-revving, low-stressed power units for a variety of applications, including commercial vessels, in light, medium and heavy duty ratings. The range comprises: the 2,100rpm 190bhp heavy-duty M190C; the 2,400rpm 216bhp medium-duty M216C; the 2,400rpm 250bhp medium-duty M250C; and the 2,400rpm 300bhp light-duty M300C. All comply with US EPA Tier 2, IMO2 and CCNR (Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine) stage 2 emission standards. They have been designed for good fuel economy, high torque and low noise, and for ease of installation to suit both new build and repower installations.

As Perkins is part of Caterpillar, the new engines make use of Cat’s Acert technology, including a high-pressure, common rail fuel system, electronic engine control and automatic cold start control. They are capable of runing on different distillate-type fuel grades, including kerosene, jet aviation fuel and B20 biofuel.
