Five-con-ro contract from ACL

Danish design company Knud E Hansen is responsible for the design of the new G4 (Generation 4) class vessels. The company’s input will include class drawings, general hull and outfitting design, machinery arrangement, HVAC and electrical and automation design.

The con-ro vessels will carry both ro-ro and container cargo. Each vessel will have a service speed of 18 knots, a total ro-ro capacity of 28,900m², and a total container capacity of 3,800TEU.

They will be used for international trade and have been designed for better efficiency, capability and reliability when at sea and in port. The partly open top vessels are claimed to be the largest and most innovative con-ro vessels to be built and will replace ACL’s current G3 fleet.
