Polish yard upgrades survey ship
The LR-classed Kommandor Calum, formerly named RMAS Salmaid, was built in 1986 by Hall Russel. The scope of work includes removal of bow horns and forecastle rearrangement, removal of old deck equipment and replacement with new equipment including a 140t crane, installing a stern thruster in addition to the existing bow thruster to give DP capability, a new moonpool, upgrades to navigation and communications systems, adding an additional accommodation deck to the superstructure, rearranging the aft accommodation, and other work required for special survey.
Completion is scheduled for November 2012, with the total cost expected to be above €1million. The contract was arranged by Marine Marketing International, of the UK.
