Stone Marine Singapore's equipment enables more accurate propellers to be produced

The company recently commissioned a 5-axis simultaneous movement CNC machining centre which has been custom built using the latest high tech parts from Germany, Japan, Italy and Switzerland, was chosen.

Gerry McLoughlin, managing director, Stone Marine Singapore, said: “We need accurate propellers for modern fast vessels. We invest in the latest equipment to manufacture high-end propellers suitable for military vessels, crew boats, fast ferries and luxury motor yachts. The builders and operators of such vessels are customers who realise the importance of equipping their vessels with high quality products.”

The machine allows for more accurate propellers to be produced, improving the factory environment and producing less waste. The simultaneous movement of the 5-axis cutting tool enables propellers with overlapping blades to be fully machined – an advantage over the commonly used 3-axis CNC machines, which require overlapping areas of propellers to be hand finished.
