Jaya delivers new anchor handling vessel

A delivery ceremony for the Jaya Supreme, to be re-named Atlantic Kestrel, was held recently at Jaya’s shipyard in Tuas. The 85m vessel, which has been classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), was handed over under the Singapore flag.

It has been built to Wärtsilä’s VS4622 design, with Clean Design notation from DNV that limits air emissions and sea pollution and a green passport to improve future recyclability. For emergency oil spill response, the vessel includes oil recovery tanks, and for offshore drilling work, which has taken off in harsh environments close to the Arctic Circle, the vessel has DNV’s Ice-1A notation.

It has been built with DP and fitted with two 19t bow thrusters and two 13t thrusters in the stern. Its 22m beam and Naut-OSV (A) vessel bridge allows for stable manoeuvring and enhanced navigation and communication.

The vessel is equipped with a 400t line pull Brattvaag anchor handling and towing winch and has additional spooling capacity for deepwater work, twin sets of shark’s jaws, towing pins and two remote control travelling cranes.

A second vessel, the Jaya Sovereign will be delivered in November 2013.
