Good news for German yard group

The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2015, and will be 86m in length and 19m breadth. They will be equipped for studies of the ocean floor down to depths of 1,000m.

Finance for the building has been secured, says the yard, with Russian state funding and finance from a major Russian bank.

“After the success in the offshore wind sector we are very pleased with this order and the associated expansion of offshore oil and gas,” said shipyard chief Vitaly Yusufov. Nordic is reporting that it is on the up, with an orderbook valued at about €1 billion, securing its future to 2105, and more orders expected. Current work includes three offshore platforms Siemens in connection with the Borkum, Helgoland and Sylt North Sea wind farms, plus a wind farm service vessel with a second under negotiation.
