DFDS newbuilds to go ahead at Stralsund

A statement from the receiver, Dr Berthold Brinkmann, reads: “The signed order for two ro-ro special vessels for the Danish shipping company DFDS is now in our hands and is subject to various conditions. As we believe that these conditions will be fulfilled, the insolvency administrator of P+S Werften has instructed the operating company Stralsunder Schiffbaugesellschaft to implement a preparation team in order to ensure an organized start of production at the Volkswerft Stralsund on Monday, 14 January. 300 staff will commence the actual production a week later, on 21 January.”

This is highly encouraging news for all concerned, and adds to the hope that the yard will be saved.
